The American Chestnut Foundation partnered with Owen Middle School as part of the Natural Impact Initiative. The goal is to connect students to their natural Appalachian heritage through outdoor ecological sites designed for exploratory learning.  The main focus is to boost STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) readiness and increase proficiency in the core curriculum.
